About Us

Vermont Cut Coins was unofficially began in 2012 when I was selling wood crafts at a local farmers market. I also am a coin collector and wanted to share the enjoyment of coins with others. So I was drilling holes in the top of coins and hanging them on chains, and selling them as necklaces. Well it happened that another vendor there was selling handmade wooden boxes and cut coin jewelry. I had seen cut coin jewelry before, but never knew that it was cut out by hand. So he showed me the basics and was kind enough to let me try it using his tools. Once I started, I found it super exciting and started  cutting every coin in reach. I sold some of  them right there at the farmer's market, but they were definitely very rough. It took about 2 years before they were high enough quality to start selling them online. That is when I started a shop on Etsy in 2014. Since then it has been growing all the time. First spreading to Ebay and then advertising on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, and then a cheap website and now finally getting around to a nicer one.

Also it didn't just stay in coin cutting. In 2017, I finally got the equipment to start making coin rings, a very unique process that I hope to eventually add a video of. Then in 2018, plating equipment was added to my tools. In 2019, the option to fill cut coins with color epoxy was made possible. At the end of 2020 we started making bullet jewelry also. The year 2021 we had to shut down while I was deployed, but picked up when I got back. In 2023 we had out first kid, and that changed our lives. The bullet jewelry business also took off, and started taking over. At this point, we have come to the point where we need to decide where next to go with this business. We may be going to start phasing out some of the pieces as I do not have enough to make all of them and keep up with all the orders, or it may be time to expand. Either way, we appreciate your business and giving us the opportunity to make your special piece.
